Hi, I’m Tanya! I’m a freelance backpack/digital journalist; telling compelling stories through words, photos, and digital videos. Originally from San Diego, California, I have called East Tennessee my home since 2003.
In 2019. I graduated from National University (San Diego, California) with an M.A. in Digital Journalism. I also hold a bachelor of arts degree in English from San Diego State University.
While an undergraduate, I worked as a staff writer on my college newspaper, The Daily Aztec (a paid position), wrote stories for a column in San Diego Magazine where I worked as an Editorial Assistant, and freelanced a bit for the Ramona News, a local newspaper in the area at the time.
More recently, I was a contributing writer for iGirl Tech News where I wrote informative enterprise articles to encourage and inspire women and girls to pursue a career in technology. I also interviewed amazing women making a difference in the tech industry for the iGirl podcast. My iGirl stories can be found here and my podcasts interviews can be heard on Apple iTunes and on SoundCloud. You’ll also find a video of my interview with Mahmee founder, Melissa Hanna, on the iGirl Tech News home page.
This website serves as both my résumé and a portfolio of the work I completed during the master’s program. In the future, I’ll add some of my past work as well as new stories.
